Just got a chance to get my folding rig back at home restarted, I think the power went out a day or two ago so it's been idle since. Glad to see the little 960 has been chugging along well though!

Why didn't the power go out on that huh? It needs to.

I noticed your ppd went down, was already wondering what the reason was. Glad it's back online, team ppd was getting a bit low!

So, I updated the Manual for the event. Take a look at it.

So, uh, big day, or oops?

Dang it! Go figure as soon as activated all of the machines for the foldathon that something would be borked up. Gonna need you to remote in to like 4 different machines when you get a chance. I swear I put them on the new passkey but maybe I need to force them.

Alright, no big deal right now. I may edit the points just to test that new aspect of the site zodac was working on if it's ready by the 30th.

I'll hit you up on Discord when I can tv again, but just keep em goin.

Man, @damricis tearing it up! Are you still on the RX580? What kind of OC do you have on it? I think that advanced flag really shot you up!

Still on the HD 7850. OC is 1200/1200 compared to stock 860/1200 so +40% OC. Not sure how long it will survive, but it's running well at the moment. I actually took the advanced flag off. For some reason it kept crashing with that. It seems like it churns out a WU maybe twice a day lol.

Very interesting stuff here:

vs

Damn near identical core configuration but stock clock way lower on the HD 7850.

Have you considered dropping the RAM clock to free up voltage and thermals for the core? Bet you could squeeze out 1300/900-1000 (Or Less).

I can try. The most I've ever been able to bench the card in 3d stuff was 1225/1500. It's running at 33C under water with fans blowing on front and back of the PCB. This was the last generation of cards that wasn't using boost algorithms, just straight clocks, and straightforward overclocking. After I finish this next WU I'll try bumping it a bit and hopefully it remains stable. About 2:35 to go.

Don't know if you knew, but [email protected] does not benefit from VRAM OC's, in fact it makes it unstable. You can effectively lower VRAM clocks to free up thermals and headroom for core. Though after looking at the TechPU specs, it looks like you have a fantastic OC going and I don't want to be responsible for killing your card.

Yeah I remember you saying that before so I have left the VRAM at stock 1200MHz while folding. I'll mess around with lowering it, but like you said it might be better left alone since it hasn't crashed in days.

Alright, bad news. As much as hate to do this, I need to borrow some parts off of my folding rig to make some emergency repairs to my son's friend's rig. It's going to have to go down tomorrow at least for 6 hours or so at the least, at worst for a few days until I get some more parts.

At least I didn't have to tear down my folding rig, but I woke up this morning to the screen frozen, first time it's happened in over a month. I think it might have been Windows forcing an update, since it updated as soon as it was reset. I would use Linux if I knew how to tune GPU clocks and voltages outside of driver limits like in Afterburner. I'm not sure how long it was frozen, but it's been about 12 hours since I checked on it ?

Ditto. Woke up to frozen screen again. It might be the SSD, who knows. I powered back on and am running again. Not sure how long it was offline.

Did you just say Ditto to your own post my Alabama brother?

whew been away from the forum for a while again, sorry about that.

Glad to see the 960 is still chugging away well. Had the power go out on me a couple times over the past few weeks, but that's not been much more than 12 hours total of downtime, probably. The future of my folding rig cards is uncertain though, some opportunities to move hardware around are appearing, but I'll update if things change.
