Certain types of silicon have longer lead times. Bloomberg, citing Susquehanna Financial Group data, said microcontrollers that control functions in vehicles, home electronics and industrial equipment, now have lead times of 26.5 weeks. The average wait time for logic chips like these is six to nine weeks.

We’ve heard multiple stories regarding the ongoing chip shortage and how long it could potentially stretch on. Just last month, for example, TSMC said it expected the auto industry shortage to start to subside in the coming months but anticipated the overall semiconductor industry to continue to struggle into 2022.

Well, the Kenworth Plant here locally had to build lots to hold their chipless/finished otherwise trucks. At least 1 sq mile worth could be seen for several weeks last month and before, but they're starting to move. They were literally putting a chip in to move it/test, and then removing it to move onto the next truck.

...^^ I read multiple news reports last week in both Europe and N.America on this as well, including on limiting shifts in several factories, especially re. e-models.

...somewhat related, when I bought out the BMW X5 company car lease back in June, I noticed that the dealer was none too happy for not just rolling it over for models they had on the lot...obviously several reasons for that, but it also turns out that the lease buy-out price (fixed per contract in 2017 when new) was much lower than similarly-equipped used models are going for now as a result of the chip shortage.

Yeah, I was just seeing if the specs were out on the 22 Mustang, and that's all that came up. If I would have held onto my Mustang just a few more months, I would have probably gotten more than I paid for it brand new in 2018.
