It's all over the 'net now. Wouldn't be surprised if it somehow ties into to that whistleblower who came out of the closet the other day.

As per the subject title (I ran the whois for facebook.com a few moments ago and verified the nuked dn records):

I wouldn't be upset if facebook somehow got totally wiped out personally. 😅

Here is an article about it as well:

Facebook and Some of Its Apps Go Down Simultaneously

Quote

Facebook and some of its apps, including Instagram and WhatsApp, appeared to go down at the same time Monday for many users, who turned to Twitter and other social media platforms to lament the outage.

The social network and its apps began displaying error messages before noon Eastern time, users reported. All of the company’s family of apps — Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger — showed outage reports, according to the site downdetector.com, which monitors web traffic and site activity.

Outages are not uncommon for apps, but to have so many interconnected apps at the world’s largest social media company go down at the same time is rare. The company has been trying to integrate the underlying technical infrastructure of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram for several years.

Two Facebook security team members, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly, said it was unlikely that a cyberattack caused the issues. That is because the technology behind the apps was still different enough that one hack was not likely to affect all of them at once.

Wouldn't be surprised if Mark was somehow behind the outage given what else is in the news 😉

Wouldn't bother me though if the change was permanent

(...and suddenly millions of retired boomers are having to speak to their spouses for the first time in years)

Looks like it's starting to come back to life again. This was a tad interesting though (who knows what really happened):

Either it was an internal error..or they are just saying that to cover up a breach. Not to get all conspiracy theory but it really wouldn't surprise me at all these days.

I've come to realize Facebook probably has more value to me as a tool to keep up with local and Internet businesses than a friend network where people virtue signal, rant about crap that doesn't affect their actual daily lives, and deliberately test the limits of Facebook's censors all day. Even the car groups I'm part of kind of suck compared to forums.

So at first I was kind of glad that people got off it for a day, but then I realized the platform is at least moderately useful although not indispensable for keeping up with some of my projects.

I use it for contacts and promotions...and to see some funnies now and then. I do not really participate like others do.
