After several months, Seagate has officially revealed its intentions to launch the next-gen HDD in the middle of 2023. This announcement comes after months of advertising the development of its second-generation HDD platform that will showcase the latest heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) technology and offer memory capacities of over 30 TB.

Seagate reveals that the company will begin shipping their 30 TB and higher HDDs to select clients by the second half of 2023.

Anyone need storage? 😬

On the up and up with HDD sizes. When I recently re-did my storage, I was pleasantly surprised by the costs. Yes still a few quid BUT the amount of storage per £ you can get these days is great. For HDD's that is.

However flash storage is also becoming more affordable in increasing sizes.

Meanwhile am just using a single 8tb drive for my file. Got an extra one stored with a backup.

It like 50% full.  I still got work to do at least my Plex server running now 😀

This reminds me that I should really setup a NAS at some point. I opted for all SSD storage in my new rig, but its still 2TB short of what I had internal on my last one (5TB vs 7.5TB).
