How to F@H for dummies

Recommended Posts

..I don't actually have anything to contribute to this thread but as I have been picking and sorting and digging through the other threads, it really made me desire somewhere to go that has the information in a single place. Especially since I fall into the category of complete dummy. I downloaded the program and it is working, but I have seen soooo much stuff on optimizations that I really don't understand or know where to start. Thanks in advance for any contributions

@Avacadowrote up a nice guide for getting into F@H not too long ago on OCN.

The big difference is that of course EHW's team number is 239902. The advanced slot options are very useful, and the external links listed in that post are great as well. I'd also add the link below to the list to compliment OCN's PPD database. It's set up by some guys over on the LinusTechTips forum, so while they are "competitors" I find it to be very useful since it generally has more up-to-date data, which accounts for the big boost Nvidia cards got due to some changes on the F@H side of things, and also has data on more recently-released cards that OCN's database lacks.

Folding really is pretty straightforward though, you've done the initial setup, then there's a few optional things you can set, and beyond that you can just let it run unattended. Everything else is just monitoring.

thanks for the reply. I will check out the links and I finally found the existing dummy guide and PM'ed enterprise to delete this topic because it makes me look even more like a dummy. lol

And in case there are other dummies out there that it was also not obvious to, here is the local link

Yeah, that post is good for basics, but I like the extra few links for external stuff and the notes on the F@H client config that the EHW guide lacks. Maybe something to add to ours.

Thank you for the nod. You might want to edit EHW's team number here though :)

Good eye! fortunately I had already signed up, but I didn't catch that in the post
